El Camino Real Club

Hi al!, I’m hoping to make this a short column this month, for two reasons. 1) I don’t have that much to say, and 2) it’s too hot sitting in our office, typing! We don’t have A/C here on the coast, but if this heat cyclecontinues, it would be nice!!

We just returned from the Rocky Mountain Vintage Air-stream Club Rally in Ridgway, CO. The Denver Air-stream Club members really know how to put on aRally! We had six Airstreams there representing ElCamino Real: Cruising’s, Green’s, Laughlin’s, Merkt’s,Pickett’s and Waldo’s. Tico’s and Iliew’s had to cancel due to personal reasons. I’m not going to go into theRally, because I gave our editor, Jim, our blog address,and I think he will be using plenty of it. It was hot everywhere, beginning in Needles, at 115, and ending at home, when we arrived yesterday afternoon … 90 degrees, ON THE COAST!! Hope you all are handling the heat ok!!

On our return trip, we stopped in Prescott, AZ, for a quick visit with Hans and Birgit Iliew, and Leroy and Jeanne Waldo, who both have beautiful homes in the Prescott area. We also got to see the home that is being built for Jack and Kathleen Cruising,too Very nice!! Thanks to the Waldo’s, and Iliew’s, for letting us park in their drivewayovernight.

Speaking of heat, some of our members, have beautiful mountain homes in Idyllwild, which were in danger in the recent fire. Thanks goodness, they were all spared, and the fire is contained, and nearly out. Tommy and I are keeping some of our current, and former members, in our thoughts and prayers, as they, or their family members, are experiencing medical issues at this time. We wish them all the best!

We have several more fun Rally’s this year! In September, the Lintz’s and Iliew’s have a great rally planned in Williams, AZ, including taking the train up to the Grand Can- yon, and much more! In October, we will be heading to the Region 12 Rally, at the Oasis, in Las Vegas. Come andjoin us!! Tico’s and Behan’s have a really fun rally planned, in November, at Guajome Regional Park, with lots to do! Check the coupons in this Bell for more information. This heat can’t last forever, so in the meantime, try to staycool and healthy, and we will see you down the road!!
